In this prospective study carried out at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, longitudinally evaluated HRV was found to be associated with UC symptoms, inflammation, and perceived and physiological measures of stress. This is the first study to show such an association and find that significant changes in HRV metrics precede the development of a symptomatic or inflammatory flare.
